Florence Beaumont was a leading UK suffragist – a non-violent suffragette – who played a pivotal role in ensuring that all women over 18 got the vote.
Florence, together with her-sister-in-law and Robert’s grandmother Gwendoline Beaumont, and suffragist Dame Millicent Fawcett, are being celebrated at a special evening at Hatfeild Hall on the outskirts of Wakefield on Tuesday, March 10.
The political legacy to equal franchise of the three women will be marked with a blue plaque, to be unveiled at Hatfeild Hall, as part of 2026 International Women’s Day Celebrations. The evening will be hosted by the Wakefield-based Dream Time Creative.
