A drive to close parts of some main roads to cars and taxis will help to tackle York's 'chaotic problem with traffic congestion', say cycle campaigners.
City of York Council has been consulting over proposals to shorten bus journey times in York, which include keeping parts of Rougier Street, George Hudson Street and Micklegate open solely for buses and emergency vehicles.
The Rougier Route serves more than 1,000 buses a day on 29 bus routes, with some travelling at just 3.4 mph due to the city centre's severe congestion.
