St Leonard's Hospice has announced plans for a major new retail store at Clifton Moor Retail Park in York which will open in Spring 2026.
The charity, which provides care for people with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families and carers has signed a long-term lease on a pair of brand new units on the site of what was previously the B&M store in the retail park.
The enormous 16,000 square foot facility will feature a furniture shop, a value store and a huge drive-up donation centre.
James Wainwright, Director of Income Generation at St Leonard's Hospice, said: "Such a huge facility also means we can develop our furniture collection service by offering house collection as well, something we're often asked for by bereaved families."
The new store will also include a value store which will "provide affordable options for people who might be finding things difficult financially."
Additionally, the enormous facility will allow space for a huge drive-up donation centre.
Due to this, Wainwright said that: "donating items couldn't be easier as you can back your car right up to the door."
"We're always conscious at St Leonard's of our commitment to the public who make our work possible in the first place."
"We're absolutely reliant on our donors and shoppers for the funds we need to meet the increasing demand for our care."
This long-term commitment comes as the Hospice aims to raise £1 million a year from its shops.
St Leonard's Hospice say that: "The new store will help to achieve that goal by increasing the volume of donations handled, improving the shopping experience and creating new opportunities for volunteers."
The hospice currently has 14 shops across York, The Vale of York, Malton and Pocklington.
The jumbo store is due to open in May 2026.
