Matthew Glossop Brings Christmas Cheer to Selby Abbey with Festive Concerts

Renowned violinist Matthew Glossop is set to light up Selby Abbey this December with Christmas Greetings LIVE! – a magical evening of festive classics, live ballet, and mesmerising music from his Bloomsbury Musicians.

This enchanting concert promises to transport attendees into the heart of Christmas spirit, surrounded by the Abbey's twinkling Christmas trees and flickering candlelight. The event will feature beloved Christmas tunes from film favourites such as Home Alone (Somewhere in My Memory), Love Actually (Glasgow Theme), and The Snowman (Walking in the Air). Classical highlights include Winter from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and selections from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. Guests can also expect timeless Christmas songs made famous by Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, and Michael Bublé.

Adding an extra layer of elegance to the evening, Glossop will be joined by two accomplished ballerinas trained at the world-renowned Bolshoi Ballet Academy, who regularly perform with the Northern Ballet. Together, they promise to bring a unique and captivating visual dimension to the night.

Matthew Glossop's distinguished career has seen him work with Sony Music and Universal Record artists, as well as share the stage with legends like Andrew Lloyd Webber, Burt Bacharach, and Il Divo. Known for his television appearances on Strictly Come Dancing and Songs of Praise, he recently appeared in the period drama Belle and will feature in the upcoming Netflix series The House of Guinness.
