A dazzling night of celebrity guests and entertainment has raised more than £212,000 for Martin House Children’s Hospice at its annual Glitter Ball.
The glamorous event, held at Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate, was hosted by TV presenter Duncan Wood and welcomed nearly 600 guests for an evening of dinner, dancing, and fundraising in support of children and young people with life-shortening conditions.
Familiar faces from television were among those in attendance, including celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott and Emmerdale stars Jeff Hordley, Zoe Henry and Mark Charnock.
Clair Holdsworth, Chief Executive of Martin House, said:
“It was a fantastic night – every year is bigger and better, and so many people told us this was the best Glitter Ball yet. We cannot thank our supporters and sponsors enough for their generosity.”
The event featured a series of high-profile auction prizes, including a round of golf with England football manager Sir Gareth Southgate and a private dining experience with Ainsley Harriott. Auction bids on the night and online raised more than £60,000 alone.
John Hughes, Managing Director at HARIBO UK and Ireland — the event’s headline sponsor — said:
“Our longstanding partnership with Martin House goes back 17 years, and over that time we've seen the incredible difference they make. We share their belief in creating special moments of happiness for children and families, and we're honoured to support their work being there for families across Yorkshire when they need it most. We already can’t wait for what next year holds!”
The evening also received support from KPP Architects, Ello Group, and Berry’s Jewellers, which donated a stunning 1.25ct diamond necklace for the Ellie’s Gems competition. Guests enjoyed a drinks reception, a three-course dinner, fundraising games, and live music from The Phat Cats.
Since opening in 1987, Martin House Children’s Hospice has provided vital care and support for children and young people with life-limiting conditions across Yorkshire.
