York pubs to offer free meals to shift workers on Christmas Day.
Shift workers in York are being treated to a free festive meal thanks to a new nationwide scheme.
Greene King pubs across the UK are taking part in The Big Christmas Shift, including four venues in York—The Windmill Inn, The Golden Lion, The Lendal Cellars, and The Ye Olde Starre Inne.
The scheme is designed to thank those who will be working on Christmas Day, from nurses and carers to delivery drivers and emergency crews.
Andrew Gallagher, brand and marketing director at Greene King pubs, said: "We see first-hand the hard work that goes into making Christmas happen, including our very own team across the UK.
"While most of us are sitting down for Christmas lunch, millions of people are working hard to keep things running.
