Staff at Copmanthorpe Primary School say the school is the first primary school in the city to have been awarded a Silver Healthy Schools Award.
The Healthy Schools Award Programme now includes more than a third of York’s schools.
The programme encourages schools to work towards bronze, silver, or gold status by meeting criteria across four key themes: active lives, food in schools, emotional health and well-being, and personal, social and health education.
Copmanthopre head, Luke Dancer said: "Huge congratulations to Dan Simms and Heather Corah the PE leads for their energy and commitment to the running of the very busy schedule, Copmanthorpe Primary has been praised on a number of areas, including clear investment in staff Continuing Professional Development (CPD) competitions, equipment, and creating a broader range of physical activity experiences for pupils.
