A charity in North Yorkshire is celebrating 50 years of service with the arrival of a new electric car.
Boroughbridge Community Charity has acquired a fully electric Kia to support its transport services, which help residents across more than 30 villages get to hospital appointments and essential visits.
The vehicle will be charged for free and housed at the Boroughbridge site of Reed Boardall, one of the UK’s largest temperature-controlled food distribution businesses.
Marcus Boardall, chief executive of Reed Boardall, said: "Over the last 50 years, this valuable charity has helped thousands of local people, including many of the families of our 800-strong team here in Boroughbridge.
"We are proud to have played a part in its success and wish it well for the future."
The charity was founded to help those unable to travel independently and now operates two minibuses and a network of volunteer drivers.
