Exciting news for local independent charity, Age UK York.
The organisation has been nominated for the Charitable Excellence Award at the Yorkshire Choice Awards 2026.
For over 50 years, Age UK York has helped older people in York to live well, stay connected and keep their independence.
If the charity wins this prestigious award, it will be named the chosen charity for the awards in 2027.
This would be an incredible recognition for the organisation because it greatly impacts the lives of thousands of older people in the local community.
Speaking on the nomination, Simon Holmes, Chief Executive of Age UK York, said: “Age UK York is absolutely thrilled to have been nominated for this award."
He continued saying: "It is recognition of our wonderful staff and volunteers — the difference they make each day, and to those residents across York who entrust us with their support.”
