YO1 Radio has teamed up with York Electric from First Bus to give you the chance to celebrate your community or sustainability hero with a prize that, genuinely, money can’t buy!

We’re going to NAME A BUS from the shiny new state-of-the-art York Electric fleet – and we need YOUR help to choose those worthy of having their name on display across the city in recognition of their contribution to society.

We want you to tell us about that person from your local community who really deserves this unique honour.

We’re looking for ordinary people who go the extra mile. Maybe they are a key player in your local community, helping to organise events and activities bringing the community together? Maybe they’ve helped raise valuable funds or given hours of their time to a local charity? Maybe they selflessly look after a vulnerable person or make a difference to a community group? Maybe they are a sustainability hero, creating a greener future for York?

We know there are dozens of people out there who just get on with it and make that difference quietly, day in, day out. Now is your chance to show them – and the whole city – that what they do is really valued.

When we’ve chosen our two winners, the team at First Bus will design and produce the graphics on the bus – we’ll then surprise the lucky winners by turning up at their place of work or home. We can’t wait to see their faces!

Terms and Conditions for the Name a Bus Competition

1. Introduction

1.1. The Name A Bus Competition ("Competition") is organised by YO1 Radio in partnership with First Bus York ("Organisers").

1.2. By participating in the Competition, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

2. Eligibility

2.1. The Competition is open to residents of York and surrounding areas.

2.2. Entrants must be 18 years or older. Participants under 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian.

2.3. Employees of the Organisers, their immediate family members, and anyone directly connected with the Competition are not eligible to participate.

3. Entry Submission

3.1. To enter, participants must complete the nomination form available on the YO1 Radio website.

3.2. Each nomination must include:

Name and contact details of the entrant.

Name and contact details of the nominee.

A brief description of why the nominee deserves to have a bus named after them.

3.3. Entries must be received by 8^th July at 12pm. Late entries will not be considered.

4. Selection of Winners

4.1. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges appointed by the Organisers.

4.2. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

4.3. Two nominees will be selected and contacted within 1 week of the competition closing.

5. Prizes

5.1. Each winner will have a bus named after them, with a custom vinyl wrap displaying their name and achievements.

5.2. Winners will be announced during a live event organised by YO1 Radio and First Bus York on a date to be confirmed with the nominees.

5.3. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or other alternatives.

6. Publicity and Personal Data

6.1. By participating in the Competition, entrants consent to the use of their name, likeness, and nomination story for promotional purposes without additional compensation.

6.2. Entrants' personal data will be used solely for the purpose of administering the Competition and in accordance with YO1 Radio’s privacy policy.

7. General Conditions

7.1. The Organisers reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Competition if necessary due to unforeseen circumstances.

7.2. The Organisers accept no responsibility for any technical issues, including network, computer, hardware, or software failures of any kind, which may restrict or delay the sending or receipt of an entry.

7.3. Entrants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Organisers from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising out of or related to their participation in the Competition or any breach of these Terms and Conditions.

8. Governing Law

8.1. These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

8.2. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with the Competition will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
