New Beginnings Racehorse Visit to St Leonard's

New Beginnings are a charity that takes in retired racehorses - together with horses and ponies than end up being unwanted.

They are at York races tomorrow (not running I might add) but, ahead of that, took the time to visit St Leonard's to see the staff and patients. The joy on peoples' faces made it all a very humbling experience but beautiful nonetheless.

Everyone got the chance to pet them and feed them carrots. Both horses were very astute at working out how to be gentle, even bowing down to touch the hands of patients who could reach up. It was so relaxing being with them I can totally understand how it works.

Lowra Kitchenman from St Leonards was delighted to see YO1 there.

I will be going in a few weeks to meet Misty the therapy Dog, Stan the guitarist and also checking out their redeveloped hub where they are starting to welcome people to their added services.
