Lowra at St Leonards invited me to meet their therapy dog and I jumped at the chance. who couldn't resist such a cutie! Her name is Misty and along with her owner, Chris Hayter she visits the hospice regularly to comfort patients (and staff). She was chosen for her calming nature and is part of "Pets As Therapy", a company who has lots of lovely animals on their books. Plus if you wanted to look into your own pet as a volunteer they are ready and waiting! just put in petsastherapy.org
Chris said Misty loves coming into St Leonards Hospice and even has her own badge and a painting on the wall! she is so popular with everyone including the staff who can't wait for cuddles. The very presence of a pet is very comforting and they have unconditional love.
I know all about that, having a pooch myself and I wish Misty and her fur friends all the love in the world for the fantastic service they provide.
