York is preparing for another Viking invasion – and we’re giving you the chance to experience it for free.

To celebrate the return of the JORVIK Viking Festival in 2026, we’re giving away two family tickets to JORVIK Viking Centre, one of York’s most iconic attractions and the heart of the city’s Viking history.

It’s time to check your chain mail, sharpen your swords and get ready, because 1,160 years after the Vikings first arrived, they’re back.

The JORVIK Viking Festival Returns to York – February 2026

For seven unforgettable days, York will once again be transformed as Europe’s largest Viking Festival takes over the city.

Around 500 Viking re-enactors will descend on York, helping to welcome nearly 50,000 residents and visitors for a packed programme of living history, crafts, storytelling and combat – all set within the historic city walls.

From bustling encampments to epic battle re-enactments, Norse influence will spread across the city centre as February comes alive with feasting, fighting and festival atmosphere.

What’s On During the Festival?

Tickets are already on sale for some of the festival’s most popular headline events, including:

• A spectacular Viking Feast at the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall, themed around the Great Heathen Army

• The always-popular Kids’ Barbaric Battle

• The Battle for York, an epic combat display in the shadow of Clifford’s Tower

Alongside these ticketed events, there’s plenty to enjoy for free – including the large Viking encampment on Parliament Street and the traditional March to Coppergate, both open to everyone.

Experience Viking-Age York at JORVIK Viking Centre

The festival also coincides with the end of A Winter Adventure at JORVIK Viking Centre, where visitors can explore a snow-covered Viking-age Coppergate.

The experience sold out during the 2025 festival, so early booking is strongly advised – or you could be one of our lucky winners.

This competition is free to enter. Entry is ONLY via completing a valid entry form.

The prize is a FAMILY PASS to the Jorvik Viking Centre. The pass is valid for a maximum of TWO ADULTS and UP TO THREE CHILDREN.

The prize can be taken at any time during 2026.

ONE ENTRY PER PERSON. Multiple entries will be discounted.

You must provide valid name and contact details. If we are unable to contact you, you may not receive your prize.

ENTRIES CLOSE AT MIDNIGHT ON 26TH JANUARY 2026. The winner will be announced between 4pm and 7pm on Monday 3rd February and you will be contacted with details of how to receive your prize.
