Traffic at a standstill on the A19 / A1036
Cemetery Road junction
Diversions for traffic travelling north into the city centre from the direction of the A64 and Fulford are taking traffic onto Cemetery Road, where temporary traffic lights are in place at the junction of Melbourne Street as City of York Council is currently carrying out highway improvement works in the area.
Barbican Road and Cemetery Road were full of traffic both ways this morning between 8.25am and 8.30am, when The Press visited.
Vehicles were stationary and traffic was backing up along Kent Street, with some drivers making u-turns in Cemetery Road.
The AA traffic news site was reporting delays of nearly 10 minutes in the area.A section of Fishergate flooded from Escrick Lane to Blue Bridge Lane, and on Sunday (April 20), City of York Council posted on its X account that a water main had burst.
