About 4,000 residents in the YO32 postcode area which covers Haxby, New Earswick, Wigginton, Earswick, Towthorpe, Strensall and parts of Huntington woke up this morning (April 17) to find they had no water or very little.
It comes as Wigginton Road is currently closed due to a watermain burst.
One Haxby resident, who didn’t want to be named, said their water went off at about 6am and came back on after 10am, but pressure was still low.
Yorkshire Water has said that it’s due to a burst water pipe in Wigginton and they are trying to fix the problem but they have no timescale.
John Hart, another resident who has been hit, said his supply returned shortly before 10am, but still wasn't back at full strength.
He said: "I live in Strensall, yet the problem has occurred in Wigginton.
