People living in streets with ResPark close to city centre car parks say they have complained to City of York Council (CYC) about people flouting the law rather than pay for parking after recent price hikes.
A spokesperson for the council said that where residents are reporting an increase in illegal parking, they are taking action to visit the streets and dish out penalty notices.
One St Mary’s resident, who didn’t want to be named, said: “I have noticed that people are leaving their cars and getting tickets down my street.
“I have emailed CYC to find out if they had a plan in place, as this is going to be an ongoing issue. It’s pretty much every day now with three to four cars getting tickets a day.”
