North Yorkshire Police say that on Thursday (April 3) there was an increased police presence in Tang Hall as officers searched for a wanted person following a series of foot chases across streets and through nearby gardens.
Police have not said whether it was a man or a woman.
A force spokesman said: “After officers lost sight of the individual in the area, they were then later located thanks to the swift and determined efforts of our dedicated Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) from the Local Neighbourhood Policing Team.
“We are pleased to report that the individual was successfully detained and arrested.
“We understand that seeing officers in your neighbourhood can cause concern, but we assure you that these actions were taken as part of our ongoing commitment to keep the community safe, and we would like to thank residents in the area for their assistance and understanding whilst searching gardens and outbuildings in the area.”
