Jack Adkins, now 21, punched the victim at least 17 times inside the fast food chain’s Blake Street restaurant in central York, said Brooke Morrison, prosecuting.
After a member of the public intervened and stopped the incident, Adkins left the takeaway, but renewed the attack when the victim came out. He and another man punched and kicked him repeatedly until he was unconscious.
Adkin had chance after chance to avoid a prison sentence for his crime, York Crown Court heard, but didn’t take them.
Adkins, formerly of Tang Hall Lane, York, pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm and admitted breaching for the fourth time a community order previously given for the offence. The order was revoked and he was jailed for 14 months.
