Illegal immigrant Sang-Van Tran, 31, was living in a two-storey terraced house in St Joseph’s Court, Clifton.
Inside was a production centre capable of making enough of the Class B drug to net up to £148,000 in street deals, said Ayman Khokhar, prosecuting.
Tran claimed he had been homeless when three men took him to the house and forced him to look after the cannabis plants by threats he would be killed if he left the property.
But police found evidence on his mobile phone that he had been moving freely around the country by train, enjoying himself, visiting restaurants and socialising with friends. He had also been using social media.
