North Yorkshire Police are appealing to York businesses to come forward if they believe they have unwittingly accepted fake Scottish pound notes.
On Wednesday 4 September, North Yorkshire Police worked with York BID Street Rangers to recover and seize around £4,000 worth of suspected counterfeit Scottish notes.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested in St Helen’s Square in connection with the incident and has been released on bail to allow further enquiries to be carried out.
