Hoping Street Kitchen Meeting with Jane Venables

Inviting me for a chat over tea and a lovely cake in her beautiful garden, Jayne Venables had my listening ears straight away! and what a super lady she is. She dedicates her time to HOPING Street KItchen in York. This is no ordinary task, but a pledge to help the homeless to get a decent meal each week in the stunning surroundings of Kings Manor. Jayne and her fellow volunteers source out food and chefs willing to cook up a treat and also those to serve the meals on the day. She was a fountain of knowledge and her passion on the subject opened my eyes to the homeless and how a little can go a long way in helping them. We discussed many a topic and I for one was taken a back by the statistics and backgrounds to the homeless. To be in a situation where living on a street is your only choice doesn't bear thinking about and if someone can make a small difference HOPING is it! They are always looking for volunteers, food and chefs/cooks. Please get in touch and contact Jayne at jayne.venables@outlook.com
