Visitors will be able to enjoy games and refreshments as part of a busy afternoon for all the family after the traditional display of Maypole dancing performed by children from the village school.
Karen Selby, one of the organisers, says a major aim is to ensure there is plenty to do at the Fair; “We attract a wide range of generations but the one thing we hope to offer are some fun events that everyone can join in”. The ‘Welly Wanging’ contest has become a firm favourite alongside other stalls from a coconut shy to a treasure hunt and name the Teddy competition.
Cakes will also feature strongly, as usual, with a very popular home-made baking stall. Book, plant, bric-a-brac and tombola stalls will also form part of the afternoon which starts at 2pm with the arrival of Jack O’ the Green. A raffle of ‘made in Sinnington’ goodies will be on sale and refreshments will be available in the Hall. The fun dog show promises to be a key draw again and a duck race, plus children’s races will round off the afternoon.
All funds raised will go towards a new extension for the Village Hall, which will create a much-needed larger storage area plus a smaller additional meeting room. Work is due to start on the building work in the summer.
