York Theatre Royal Fundraising presents: Waiting for Panto
An Evening with David Leonard and Suzy Cooper
York Theatre Royal, Sun 22 October, 7.30pm
This is the show you’ve been waiting for – and it’ll be well worth the wait because it stars two York Theatre Royal favourites, pantomime regulars David Leonard and Suzy Cooper.
If you’ve ever wondered what the panto stars do in the long months between the end of one panto and the start of the next, then now’s your chance to find out in the appropriately-named Waiting for Panto for one night only at York Theatre Royal on Sunday 22 October.
Do Suzy and David really wile away the nine months, lolling around their Bloomsbury and Kensington apartments in diaphanous silk gowns, drinking vintage champagne and asking what is my part going to be in this year’s panto? David no longer certain he will play a man and Suzy no longer certain she will play a girl of 16.
So what to expect from them in the ‘Waiting’ room? They will share some of their favourite poems (not by Berwick Kaler), the odd song (not by Berwick Kaler) and some gags (possibly by Berwick Kaler but most likely by Martin Barrass) as they simply wait for the next panto to start and for life yet again to take on some meaning.
Suzy and David, along with the other panto regulars, will be back in the old routine at the end of November when rehearsals begin for Jack & The Beanstalk, which plays from 14 December to 3 February.
The proceeds of Waiting for Panto will go towards the theatre’s on-going work with the community.
