ENKELIT – acappella singers In concert at York Cemetery Chapel 2pm. Sunday 3rd July

ENKELIT are a small, upper-voice group based in the north of England. They were formed in 2003 by Richard Pomfret to sing the beautiful contemporary acapella music of Finland, which is strongly influenced by folk traditions such as the Kalevala and characterised by melancholy and lyricism. Their repertoire is mostly written in the last twenty years, reflecting the renaissance in Finnish choral music.

The group take its name from the choral piece which inspired their creation, Enkelit (Finnish for angels) by Tellu Turkka.

The concert is at 2pm Sunday 3rd July at York Cemetery Chapel
