Rehearsals are now well underway for the show, which is a traditional Gang Show based on the format established by Ralph Reader in the 1930s. A selection of songs, dances and sketches will be performed by a cast more than 60 strong comprising Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network and leaders from York as well as Brownies, Guides, Rangers, Senior Section and leaders from the Girlguiding county of North Yorkshire South, which covers York and Selby. The age range of the cast is from 8 years to over 70!

The theme of this year’s show is ‘Let’s Celebrate!’. 2016 is the centenary of Cub Scouts and The Senior Section of Girlguiding as well as the 30th anniversary of Beavers, so it seemed fitting that the show should not only mark the end of a fabulous year of celebrations but also reflect on the important part that Cub Scouts, The Senior Section and Beavers has played in so many lives since they first began.

To help them get into a celebratory mood, some members of the cast recently took a break from rehearsals to visit Mannion & Co in Blake Street York for a photoshoot, where they were treated to hot chocolate and giant meringues.

The show runs from Tuesday 22 November to Saturday 26 November. Performances start at 7.15pm nightly, plus there is also a matinee performance at 2.00pm on Saturday. Tickets are available from the Joseph Rowntree Theatre Box Office; telephone number; 01904 501935 or via the website;
