The 4th annual Apollo Festival take place in York on Saturday 25th June 2015 in the grounds of York Sport's Club, Clifton Park, on Shipton Road.
And just what do The 5:15's do.....?
Well it's a mod band because that's what we love. Right from the beginning we said this needs to have the spirit of one of the greatest live bands of all time - The Faces. What does that mean? Simple; loads of rehearsing, loads of homework but when its show time let's have a party. And the thing is the material we pick from is so great we believe if it's done well it can't be beat.
In their 12th year of gigging together, the summer festivals and prestige charity events have become the staple for this 6 piece York covers band. No Elvis, Beatles or The Rolling Stones in the set but count on The Who, expect some Toto, add a dash of ELO and you never know, maybe a bit of John Miles...!
Attention to detail is the thing ... Jon Stewart with his uncanny knack for sounding like the original singer whether it be Roger Daltrey or Robert Plant ... Dave "Pike" Longhawn's carbon copy keyboard sounds ... Dave Sykes' precision guitar tones all combine to make the band's performances of 'classic rock and pop songs that no-one else tackles' truly stand out.
Chris first rose to prominence as the front man of John Squire's post-Stone Roses band 'The Seahorses' which saw him touring extensively and sharing the stage with The Rolling Stones, U2 and Oasis in numerous support slots. Now solo- he is still rightfully remembered for Britpop classics Love Is The Law and Blinded By The Sun - songs that evoked everything the 90's stood for, the excitement, the culture and the bands that provided a voice in a period of political and social imbalance.
Chris' enviable back catalogue, bolstered further by his acclaimed works with The Yards, but it's his last album, The Rookery which has a knack for melody and imaginative, intricate, three-way guitar interplay that brings each track to such lush, blossoming, climaxes. Add to this Chris' keen ear for arranging and those brooding string passages which resonate even more deeply. Melodies rooted in traditional folk have remained on an album of rich variation, testament to his most powerful weapon - his voice.
