Over 160 businesses from the Ryedale area have already taken advantage of the free business support available as part of the Superfast North Yorkshire project thanks to the championing of the project by Ryedale District Council.  Businesses ranging from photographers to accountants and contract cleaners to candlemakers have been attending specialist masterclasses covering everything from Twitter to Search Engine Optimisation, all over the region since January 2013.  They have then been able to take advantage of a grant for up to £700 to buy relevant IT equipment or help develop their websites to make their digital presence more effective.

One satisfied business client is management consultancy firm, brightSOLUTIONS, owner, Dee Lynes adds "The workshops were extremely helpful and made the difference between suriving my first year in business or not - I genuinely don't think I could have done it without the superb classes provided'.  The company took advantage of the grant to purchase new IT equipment in order to make the most of what they had learnt.

Representatives from North Yorkshire's small to medium-sized businesses are invited to attend a free half day taster session to find out how to make the most of trading in a digital world. The taster event takes place on Friday 24th April at The Memorial Hall in Pickering.

Doors open at 9am for coffee and a networking opportunity and the free seminar will run from 9.30am to 12.30pm. Topics covered will include everything from how to utilise Twitter and social media within your business to how to improve your website content or make the most of LinkedIn.

Superfast North Yorkshire are working with Ryedale District Council to encourage as many local eligible businesses as possible to register with the programme, including sending information with Ryedale’s business rates letters.  Jos Holmes, Economy and Community Manager at the Council comments "Over 160 small businesses in Ryedale have benefited from this business support programme and grant and we hope more will be able to sign up before the programme finishes in June 2015."  She adds, "This scheme is open to many businesses in our area from sole traders to companies employing up to 250 people and we don't want anyone who is eligible to miss out on the opportunity as the scheme faces its final few months of operation.  I would encourage anyone to attend the taster event coming up in Pickering on 24th April or ring the team on 0845 002 0021 to find out more".
