A hustings event has been organised for this spring
The event is hosted by Haxby and Wigginton Methodist Church by Philip Turner at 8pm on the 19th April 2015
The aim of holding hustings events is to provide voters with an opportunity to hear the views of candidates or parties standing for election. Therefore, they should be open and transparent.
The Electoral Commission has released a series of guidelines that were drawn up from the current legislation (Political Parties, Elections and Referendum Act 2000) in the light of good practice. These rules are intended for local non-party campaigners in the run-up to the European elections and will continue to apply until September 19th 2014, when the changes brought by the Transparency of Lobbying, Non Party Campaigning and Trade Union Administration Act 2014
