This annual event runs from 29th February to 13th March, and, as always, Aroma will be serving Fairtrade drinks, and selling Fairtrade chocolate and gifts. Sue and her staff have a lovely selection of gifts for you to choose from - so come and have a look - you may find something you would like to buy for a friend or relative - or even yourself!
THE BIG BREW:
Linked to Faritrade Fortnight, As Martin Luther King famously said, ‘before you finish eating breakfast in the morning, you’ve depended on more than half the world’. Despite our dependence on farmers and workers for the foods, drinks and products that we love, about 795 million people are undernourished globally. The people who grow the food we take for granted can’t always feed their own families. We can support farmers and workers to put food on the table for their families by harnessing the power of buying Fairtrade products. On Saturday 5th March, Aroma will donate 10p to Traidcraft for every hot drink sold - whether for breakfast, morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea. Come and help us raise funds for this important work!
Still on the theme of Fairtrade, we have Fairtrade "Real meaning of Easter" chocolate eggs available at £3.99 - and some dairy-free ones as well, so everyone can have a treat!
EASTER OPENING HOURS:
Aroma will be closed on Good Friday (25th March) and Easter Monday (28th March). Open as normal on Easter Saturday.
The 10th Haxby and Wigginton scarecrow festival will take place from 30th April - 2nd May 2016, raising funds for St.Leonard's Hospice and local charities. Join in the fun by either making a scarecrow (entry forms can be found at http://www.haxbyandwiggintonmethodistchurch.org.uk/scarecrows/ ). Or come and enjoy following the trails and seeing the scarecrows - it's a great opportunity to get out and about in the community. And maybe stop off for refreshments at Aroma!
And to support people nearer home, Aroma is a collecting point for the York Trussell Trust Food bank - if you would like to make a donation, please see the Trust's webpages for details of the food items they currently need: http://york.foodbank.org.uk/
