York Blind and Partially Sighted Society (YBPSS) are looking for volunteer home visitors to help people with sight loss to get out of their house and enjoy tasks that other people may take for granted. Volunteers provide companionship and support to help them achieve independence. Volunteers can help with a range of things including reading and answering mail, taking the client out, helping with leisure activities or just having a cup of tea and a chat.

The concert, which takes place in the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall on 21 September at 7.30pm, celebrates musicians who have sight or hearing loss to highlight the Trusts work.
Local musicians as well as Sarah and Paula include Main Street Sound, Jacob the Yorkshire Tenor, 4 on Demand, Barbarellas, Clerkes of All Saints and the Southbank Singers and include works by Queen, Sting and Elton John as well as classical works and folk with a bit of barbershop thrown in.
The meeting of Askham Bryan College Gardening Club on Tuesday 18th September is an illustrated talk entitled "The Walled Kitchen Garden At Clumber Park," given by Chris Margrave, Head Gardener at this National Trust property, which incidentally, holds the national collection of Rhubarb!

This is a truly magical event for the local community. The first part of the day brings people and groups together to organise a fun filled time for all the family - have a go's, displays, dog show, horse show, stalls, competitions etc. Then the second part of the day is a mini music festival with approximately 20 established up and coming bands/artists over 2 stages interlinked with entertainment. Food units and a bar will be serving delights throughout the day.
The York LGBT Forum are proud to present a unique theatrical experience penned by local writer and director Steven Clark. Bring On Tomorrow takes the audience on an emotional journey through a history of LGBT landmark points and raises awareness on topics such as homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and hate crime.
