Local photographer Kieran Delaney took these stunning photos last night as the market opened for another festive season.
His photos show the many stalls, street food vendors, Christmas lights and giant trees in the streets surrounding the city centre.
The popular event will run right through until Christmas week - so there is plenty of time to visit and soak up the experience.
This year there are 75 alpine-style chalets set up through Parliament Street and St Sampson's Square including stalls from Lush, The Yorkshire Candle Company, York Cocoa Works - some 80 per cent of traders are from Yorkshire, say organisers.
They will each be offering an array of local crafts, artisan products and seasonal treats.
Also in place this year will be the vintage carousel in King’s Square.
