Charlie Malarkey's New Earswick Boxing (KO) for Kindness club project is well underway on the outskirts of the city with the building footings already in place and a six metre tall steel frame now erected.
The club, which is in the process of being built at New Earswick Sports Club and aims to get people off the streets and give them a purpose in life, already has planning permission for a brand new gym.
The man behind the project, the Salvation Army’s Charlie Malarkey, said once open he wants it to become a community hub with everything from occupational health to medical advice on site alongside the gym and boxing facilities.
The Press went along to the site to meet some of the people who will be using it once it's open.
