The Brass Monkey half marathon - organised by York Knavesmire Harriers - is returning. First organised in 1982, the half marathon was first created for club runners to compete, but has since expanded to include elite level athletes.
Last years event saw more than 1,800 runners take part - out of more than 4,600 applicants.
Starting on Sunday (January 19) the race will set off from York Racecourse. In order for the city to facilitate the runners, roads from the racecourse to Appleton Roebuck will undergo a series of closures.
Bishopthorpe Road will close one-way, in the direction of the runners, from 9.30am until 10.20am, before closing in the opposite direction from 10.20am until 1pm.
Bishopthorpe village will also be closed one-way from 9.30am until 1pm.
Runners will then reach Appleton Road - which will be closed from 9.30am until 12.30pm.
Daw Lane, near Appleton Roebuck, spells the end of the course's loop - before the runners begin to head back to York Racecourse. Here, the road will be closed one-way from 9.45am until midday.
