North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service say they were called out at 5.49pm on Tuesday night (December 3) after reports of a fire close to Fishergate Bar.
A service spokesman said: “Crews from York, Selby and Acomb responded to report of a fire in a flat.
“On arrival crews located the fire on the first floor. Crew used four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish and dampen down. The damage caused was 100 per cent fire damage to the room of origin and approx 50 per cent fire damage to an adjoining room.”
