City of York Council has put up fencing blocking the path from North Street Gardens to Ouse Bridge, and said it was closed until March 4.
As reported in The Press last month, the path was closed until deemed safe to be open and was set to be assessed by a structural engineer and now, new fencing has been put up.
A council spokesperson said the path was closed “due to a structural defect found beneath the walkway supporting the path.
“An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the safety period via Bridge Street, North Street."
The pathway runs along the River Ouse and passes the Radisson Hotel York.
