Officers and paramedics were called to the scene in Tang Hall at about 9.45am yesterday (Sunday, January 5).
A scene guard was in place yesterday in Sixth Avenue and officers were knocking on doors asking if any residents had information about the incident, according to reports on social media.
Three police vans were on the scene as well as an ambulance.
Crime scene investigation officers were also seen taking photographs.
North Yorkshire Police said an investigation has been launched into the woman’s death, “which is in its very early stages”.
