The team at JORVIK Viking Centre is celebrating double success for an international partnership that is encouraging Viking-themed cultural tourism around the Viking World. JORVIK is a key part of the Destination Viking Association, which has just received major recognition in Europe.
The world-famous residents of JORVIK Viking Centre – from the huntsman with his canine to the poor gentleman who has been straining on the latrine for the last 35 years – are set to escape the confines of the recreated Viking-age street this half term (20 – 27 February 2019)! York-based New Moon Studios has created an augmented reality app that brings the characters to life at different venues around the city!
Europe’s largest Viking Festival returns to York next February, telling the stories of Viking women beyond the homestead through the voices of seers, queens and shield maidens – a story of women whose influence was as great as any mighty warrior. JORVIK Viking Festival runs from 20 – 27 February 2019.
