Creatives announced for Sleeping Beauty pantomime

York-based theatre-maker Matt Aston will co-direct this year’s pantomime Sleeping Beauty with Berwick Kaler.

Matt, whose production of Grandad’s Island has played two seasons at York Theatre Royal, has previously directed pantomimes at Theatre Clwyd, Theatre Royal Wakefield and City Varieties, Leeds. He has also worked with Nottingham pantomime legend Kenneth Alan Taylor.

The hospice’s charity places may all be sold, but there is still time to join the Martin House team and raise money for the local charity supporting children with life-shortening conditions and their families.

Over 50 hot air balloons in mass launches, tethered day and night displays, the world’s largest continuous inflatable assault course, fireworks and lasers and a fairground including rides never before seen in York and some that have only arrived in the UK this year – that is the plan for York Balloon Fiesta 2019, which is returning to the Knavesmire from 27 to 29 September 2019 with a new team firing up the burner.

York BID’s Rangers receive accolade at top national awards

A scheme set up by York Business Improvement District to deter antisocial behaviour and reduce crime on the city’s streets has been recognised in a series of national awards. York BID’s Street Rangers secured the accolade of Best Safety, Security and Resilience Scheme at the annual Town and City Management Industry Awards, held last week in London.
