Local radio station helps local charities to the tune of £55,000

Gearing up for their FM launch in York and surrounding areas, local radio station YO1 Radio have been adding up the total of fundraising activities they have been up to over the past8 months. From online auctions, to events hosting, from music festivals, to gala dinners, the steadfast team of broadcasters don't just sit in a studio playing songs, they are always out and about within the local community hosting, helping and spreading awareness of local charities

Since their digital only platform launch in September, YO1 Radio have managed to help raise over £55,500 in local money for many charities, including:

Martin House Hospice, Ambulance Wish Foundation, St. Leonard's Hospice, SASH York, The Island Project, York Against Cancer, York Rocks Against Cancer, Minster Lions, Kyra Women's Project, York Inspirational Kids, Wilberforce Trust, York Mind, York City Knights Foundation, Stand-up To Cancer, Prostate Cancer U.K. and many more!

Through YO1 Radio's #ChristmasElfies campaign, dinner gala nights, fashion shows and race nights, every single event has helped raise substantial amounts of money for each cause.

Plenty more activity is planned over the next few weeks: The Royal Bedding (York Musicians against homelessness), The Best of York Festival (Ambulance Wish Foundation), Ryther Rocks Gin (Yorkshire Air Ambulance and St.Leonards Hospice) and Wold's Cycle Challenge (Ryedale Special Families)

And YO1 Radio's charitable arm, doesn't stop there, with 10% of their income from clients and partners each month, going to chosen local charities with their YO1 Ambassadors Scheme, which you can find out more here
