Haxby Carnival returns for 2018 and will be held on Saturday 14 July 2018 on the Ethel Ward Playing Field, Haxby.
The Carnival Procession with the Carnival Queen and her two Attendants and will leave the Village Green at 12.45 to arrive on the field by 1.00 pm for the Official Opening, which we are delighted to announce will be carried out by the York’s top children’s entertainer -The Magic Hatter!
The Carnival will be hosted by YO1 Radio’s own Chris Marsden and Dougie Weake, who will be judging the fancy dress competition entrants with prizes of First prize £15, Second Prize £10 and Third Prize £5
Come and see the City of York Pipe Band, The new formed Phoenix Fusion Majorettes, the Shotokan Karate Club, the Brownies, Guides, Cubs and Scouts and The Magic Hatter. We are also delighted that Piglets Adventure Farm, The Co-operative Funeralcare and The Co-operative Food Store, Kraken Design Agency, the Dutch Nurseries and The Parvin Restaurant are sponsoring the 2018 Carnival.
There will be a mobile climbing wall, a penalty shootout and a children’s craft table!
Apart from the various stalls, there will be crazy golf and a fair, there will be excerpts from their current production by the Joseph Rowntree Vaudeville Players and performances by Generation Groove and The Community Chorus and also the York Vintage Dance Group with the Rhythm Exchange Band.
We will have the traditional fancy dress competition which is always very popular with the children. There will also be a licenced bar supplied by the Haxby Sports Bar and other refreshments in the tea tent. Please visit the Haxby Town Council Tombola stall for superb prizes. Proceeds from the tombola will go to Local Groups and a selected Local Branch of a Charity Everyone is welcome to come and join in Haxby's fun day.
